About UWC Malawi

This is the official website for the United World College Malawi National Committee.

United World College (UWC) is an educational organisation which selects students from 150 countries. It is an educational organisation with shorter educational programmes and has national committees in more than 150 countries. The UWC organisation has 18 schools and colleges in Canada, India, Italy, Norway, Singapore, Swaziland, USA, UK, Germany, Armenia, Costa Rica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Thailand, China ( mainland and Hong Kong), the Netherlands, Japan, and Tanzania.

UWC colleges offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. At UWC, students from all over the world live together and spend a lot of time engaging in community service. With an outstanding mission and values, students are challenged intellectually, emotionally and ethically.

The Malawi National Committee is responsible for selecting students from Malawi who have completed form 4 (MSCE) and form 5 (IGCSE) aged 16 to 18 to attend the United World Colleges on scholarships.

The National Committee brings UWC graduates of any nationality living in Malawi. It is an information source for anybody in the UWC community wishing to get involved in UWC-related activities, as well as graduates searching for local contacts in Malawi.

The UWC ‘connection’ continues to be an important part of many graduates' lives long after they leave UWC, enabling them to meet like-minded individuals working or studying in similar fields, or having similar interests.

Members of the National Committee are volunteers and are not paid for their work. Members are graduates (of any nationality) of the various UWC colleges, former UWC teachers, parents and friends of UWC. We always welcome new volunteers, so please contact us if you would like to get involved.
